WHITEHOUSEGAIM II
PLAYERS
This card game is ideal for 6 players, in two groups, the three partners sitting
alternatively in circle.
CARDS
The owners have not manufactured or marketed the cards for Whitehouse gaim so
far. However, you could play the Whitehouse gaim with ordinary playing cards available
in the market. You need 2 decks of playing cards. Take out 6 cards (preferably
the higher cards) each from spades, clubs, hearts and diamonds from one deck.
With a marker pen, write down P, M, S, D, N and R in the inner face of one card at a time in each suit. Then, there are 4P, 4M,
4S, 4D, 4N, and 4R in one deck of cards. Take out 6 cards from each suit of the
second deck and write down the same way. Then there are 8P, 8M, 8S, 8D, 8N and
8R, total of 48 cards. Each suit has following six cards with points

Because of duplicate cards from two decks, the card, first played, has a higher
rank than the same type of card played in the same trick. Hence the ranking in
a suit will be P, P, M, M, S, S, D, D, N, N, R and R. Unlike the Bridge game ,
there are no differences in the ranks between the four suits, namely clubs spades,
diamonds and hearts.
PRELIMINARIES
After the dealer shuffles, the player on the right of the dealer cuts the pack
and then the dealer deals the cards. Before the game begins, it should be decided
how many plays to complete or how long the game should be. One game consists of
6 plays. One game may take about 1 to 2 hours depending on the players' ability.
DEAL
Each player receives 8 cards, deal 4 at a time. Dealer distributes the cards
face down clockwise. After distributing 24 cards to all the six players, he/she
again distributes 4 cards to each player. After each play is over, the player
on the left shuffles next and deals while the player on the dealer's right side
cuts the pack before dealing. Each player should not show the cards in his/her
hand to anybody.
AUCTION
The bidding is clockwise beginning with the player to the left of the dealer
and each player in turn see his/her own hand auction (pass, bid, double or redouble, if appropriate). If every body passes in the
first turn, the player to the left of the dealer becomes the mandatory declarer
with a bid of 28 points no-trump with is minimum to bid. The mandatory declarer
need not bid if he/she has no cards with any points and can reshuffle the cards
and deal himself.
A pass simply means that a player does not intent to bid at that particular turn. A
player has to say the word "pass" if he/she intends to pass the bid. A player
may pass and then on a later turn, bid, double, redouble or again pass. A player
can auction only after the player on the right has made a pass, bid, double, or
redouble.
A bid is a contract to win the points declared by the bidder with a named suit as a
trump or a no-trump. The bid must have the number of points and the name of the
suit or no-trump. Each player must bid at least one point higher than the previous
bid regardless of the type of the suit. The lowest bidding is 28 points and the
highest bidding is 56 points. The bidding is usually coordinated as a team with
each player supporting his/her partners' bidding if his/her hand is sufficient
enough.
A double means a player will foil his/her opponents' bid and if played, the rewards are
doubled. Similarly a player may redouble a bid he/she of his/her partners have made and an opponent doubled. In redouble,
reward becomes quadrupled. If a player's bid has been doubled by an opponent,
the bidder or his/her partners have the choice to redouble or overcall a bid to
another named suit or no-trump. Bidding can go around one or several turns up
to 56 points. Once all the other five players have made passes, the bidder becomes
the declarer who can increase his/her bidding for more points in the named suit or no-trump,
which he/she already declared. the 12 cards in the declared named suit wiill become
the trump cards. The final highest bid becomes the contract bid |
